Ted Howe's inspired original music is now released on Hot Shoe Worldwide.  Featuring an 8-piece horn section (with doubles on various clarinets and flute), a rhythm section anchored by John Patitucci and Marlon Patton, guitar, piano, Rhodes, and percussion, the compositional adventure was conducted by Steve Dancz with the composer himself overseeing all and joining the orchestra at the piano on two pieces. Get it here:  PINNACLE!

Louis Heriveaux just might be the most in-demand and recorded side artist in Atlanta who has not done his own project. Well, that is no longer the case as Hot Shoe Records is in production of a piano trio album featuring some of Louis's original compositions and several standards.  Joined by jazz journeymen Curtis Lundy on  bass and Terreon Gully on drums, this "dream team" ensemble shows they are masters of contemporary jazz interpretation and rhythmic exploration. Stay tuned.

Perhaps the best outdoor jazz program in Atlanta, Oakhurst Jazz Nights celebrates its 10th Anniversary in 2014 and Hot Shoe Records is proud to be a full-year sponsor of this April and September series. Another great season of free-to-the-public outdoor jazz concerts begins Thursday, April 3, 2014, with 3 more Spring shows on April 10, 17 and 24.  More info may be found at:

JOHN SANDFORT'S debut CD "Southbound" is now available here! John is in high demand in Atlanta as a sideman as well as gig headliner.  His tone, articulation and concept are all topflight.  Tracked at the legendary Southern Tracks Recording studios, the album has 6 Sandfort originals as well as some classic songbook fare, tunes by King Curtis and Benny Carter and another original contributed by piano-man Michael T. Jones - a longtime friend of John's.    Also gracing the recording are:  Craig Shaw(bass), Clay Hulet(drums) and special guest Joe Gransden(trumpet). You won't want to miss this one!

The Lions Have Roared!

The Atlanta Young Lions (Justin Chesarek, Will Goble, Akeem Marable, Nick Rosen and Ryan Whitehead) have emerged from the studio!  These five young artists (all still in their 20's) have been honing their chops on the Atlanta scene and elsewhere over the last several years. They have now recorded a set of originals and standards that will enable them to take their rightful place at the forefront of their generation. The future of jazz is secure.  More news to follow.

Atlanta jazz A-listers Russell Gunn and Joe Gransden have completed the initial tracking for an album paying tribute to the great bebop/hard bop trumpeter (and sometimes vocalist) Kenny Dorham. This is Hot Shoe Records' first project at Doppler Studios and the roughs show that a sonically excellent result is in hand.  Maintaining the Hot Shoe Records tradition of employing first-rate sidemen are:  Louis Heriveaux(piano), Kevin Smith(bass) and Clay Hulet(drums). Stay tuned for more news of this project in the future.

Tyrone Jackson in Jazziz Magazine!
Be sure to check out the Fall 2009 edition of Jazziz Magazine:  Tyrone Jackson is featured in the "Independent Culture" section and his original tune "African Inspiration" is on the companion "Night and Day" 2-disc CD that comes with the issue.  Here's what Jazziz said:

"Titling his latest recording Another Voyage (Hot Shoe), New Orleans-born pianist Tyrone Jackson tips his hat to a major influence, Herbie Hancock, whose Maiden Voyage remains a modern-jazz milestone.  Like Herbie, Jackson seems to revel in rich melodies and sophisticated harmonies....with a smooth-burning hard-bop feel."

Audrey Shakir CD on Hot Shoe Records is here!
The long-awaited first recording of the amazing Jazz vocalist, Audrey Shakir is now available here:   AUDREY SHAKIR:  IF YOU COULD SEE ME NOW!  Audrey sings and scats in her wonderfully unique style accompanied by some stellar sidemen:  Kenny Barron on piano, Reginald Veal on bass and Justin Varnes on drums.  Audrey has poured all her years of experience and deep understanding of the music into this opus.

Don't Miss THE Most Happenin' Live Jazz in Atlanta
You've probably already noticed that every musical endeavor Joe Gransden embarks on is a success.  THE JAM SESSION at TWAIN'S on Tuesday nights is no exception!  Joe fronts an A-list band that quickly yields to the many talented artists in attendance.  Many of the sessions have been nothing short of a fabulous fireworks display of instrumental and vocal excellence with the creative synergies sometimes bordering on the telepathic.  Twain's is at 211 E. Trinity Place, Decatur, GA  30030.  NO COVER, FREE PARKING

Kenny G Had A Special Guest at Chastain on June 25
